Here's a video of my dad talking about his WWII memoirs. It was taped before he wrote this story. In the beginning, he wasn't too interested in sharing, but then started talking. Our only regret is that we did not do the same for my mom and get her story down. I do remember that she was the fastest runner at the county games (country schools first through eighth grades) and she also won the hammering contest, where she had to hammer so many nails into a board the fastest.
