Mary Kay always had a High Hostess of the Week contest going for her hostesses. She taught me in DIQ classes that she left every class open for a few days to encourage the hostess to get as many outside orders as she could to be the highest hostess for the week. Now you realize, back in those days, we held 5 to 10 classes each and every week.

Every Saturday morning Mary Kay would call each of her hostesses from the past week and tell them that "you are soooo close to being my highest hostess! Why not get on the phone and get a few more outside orders! I just know you can be the highest hostess!" She gave them a deadline to call back, and then she awarded the highest hostess and extra special gift, above and beyond her regular hostess credit. She found that she sometimes doubled her sales on that Saturday morning as those hostesses got more orders to try to be the highest hostess. Mary Kay gave the highest hostess a travel case--those old-fashioned small square suitcase things with a mirror in the lid--a hot item 40 years ago!

Have a special guest night at your home, or invite them all to a sales meeting with your director to honor these hostesses and to announce the highest one. The highest hostess wins the prize, each attending hostess will receive a special thank you gift from you for helping you to do a Perfect '10' and your Director or you can go over the marketing plan.

Then you start the contest over again with new hostesses. Mary Kay always told them that she had a special hostess contest for this week and next. And since they were going to do a class anyway, they may as well book it while she was giving the most away. That way she booked classes in close and avoided booking classes weeks away. Then, she just started a new contest and again, it was for this week and next!
