Bulldogs close second perfect season under Johnson, blast Redmen 69-0; honoured with top Class "B" rating

Coach David Johnson's  powerful Bulldogs featured an all senior starting lineup in the final encouter of the 1967 gridiron season last Friday evening when they traveled to Smith Center to do battle with the host Redmen in a Northern Kansas League battle.  In all, 12 Bulldog seniors saw their last action in pounding the Redmen by the final score of 69 to nothing.  The victory capped a 9-0 season and extended their unbeaten streak to 32 consecutive games.

Playing their last football game for Osborne were Terry Corwin, Bruce Winder, Duane Muck, Larry Aldrich, Bob Riley, Gary Krier, Larry Kendig, Lynn Cooper, Kenny Harris, Jim Martin, Dick Roberts, and Randy Caldwell. These fine boys will be greatly missed; but, they leave behind a record of achievement that they, Osborne high school and the community can relish for years.

It took only 15 seconds for the Bulldog's Terry Corwin to score the first of 10 Osborne TD's of the evening when he burst through a large hole in the center of the line and scampered untouched for 63 yards and the touchdown. The extra point try was broken up and the Bulldogs led 6-0.

The second touchdown came six minutes later on a one yard quarterback sneak by Larry Aldrich that was set up by a 35 yard pass from Aldrich to Dick Roberts to the one yard stripe.  The PAT by Terry Corwin was good for a 13-0 advantage.

Smith Center was unable to move against the very tough Osborne defense on the next series and the Bulldogs took over following a punt on the Osborne 38.  On the next play Aldrich found Duane Muck wide open and hit him with an aerial that covered 63 yards for the third six-pointer of the first period.  Terry Corwin added the extra point, his second of eight for the game
