What's Been Happening:  Isn't it true that you never know what life's going to throw at you? After 26 years of marriage, I found myself a single lady.

I moved away from Great Bend, KS, where I'd lived for 17 years with my family, to Salina, KS. My son was at K-State and Rebekah was a senior in high school. I enjoyed 10 years in Salina, content with my girlfriends, my kids, and my career as a Senior Sales Director with Mary Kay Cosmetics. I did teach half-time for three years while in Salina at Meadowlark Elementary teaching computer skills to K-6th grades.

Deciding I needed to make some changes in my life, I learned to golf three summers ago, thinking it would be a good "elderly" thing to do, and even made plans to move to Oklahoma City to be nearer to my daughter. After removing the "For Sale" sign three times from my yard, I finally decided I wasn't supposed to move. A few weeks later, Bill Scott called me for the first time and asked me out on a date. How fun it was for us to discover that we both had a common background way back in Osborne, KS. And what a bonus it was to find out that Bill is an avid golfer. He was a golf coach for over 30 years and he is teaching me. When I say I'm trying, he says, "Yes, you are very trying!" I'm his most challenging student!

When I was a 7th grader, I entered the halls of Osborne High School with the rest of the 7th and 8th graders--little peons in a sea of upper classmen. The junior high and high school students shared the same halls, the same classrooms, the same teachers, and the same schedule. Of course, the junior high students knew all the older students, yet the older students knew very few of the lowly junior high students. And so, I "knew" Bill Scott. In fact, I stood just a few students behind him in the lunch line each day, since the students were required to file through in alphabetical order. I watched him play basketball. I was with my mom when Bill carried out our groceries from McFarland's Grocery Store. And I watched Bill and Nancy holding hands as they walked down the street. I admired him from a distance for the kind and friendly way he treated everyone. I also admired him because he was a high school hunk! But, of course, Bill had no clue who I was.

Bill married his high school sweetheart, Nancy Kaser, and they had nearly 40 wonderful years together before she suddenly passed away 3 years ago. Imagine my surprise when Bill asked me on a date.  He had no idea I was from Osborne, but when I heard his name, I asked him if he was the Bill Scott from Osborne, KS.

A year later, we got married and moved to Hays, where Bill teaches chemistry and physics at Fort Hays State University. I moved my Mary Kay business to Hays and am proudly driving my 10th free Mary Kay car. I'm slowly getting acquainted in Hays and have developed some new customers here, but thankfully many of my customers from Salina and Great Bend are still with me.  My sales unit includes about 75 consultants.

My son, Matt, is a Captain in the Kansas Air National Guard, and, as an aircraft commander, flies KC 135 refueler planes. He recently returned from training as an instructor pilot for the tankers. He hopes to get a job with a major airline. In the meantime, he enjoys his trips around the world supporting the Air Force planes in the air who need more fuel.
Matt is on the left.

My daughter, Rebekah

My daugher, Rebekah, is a vascular sonographer, who does ultrasound scans of the vascular system, looking for blood clots and clogged arteries.  She worked at OU Med Center in Oklahoma City for a couple of years, but is now a traveling sonographer.  She usually works 3 month contracts and has been all over the US, but will be in Seattle again for the summer.

One of my hobbies is making web pages.  If any of your grandkids need first-hand information about World War II or the Dirty 30's, they can use my dad's memoirs as a primary source of information. You can also visit our wedding website or my MK training website.
